🇧🇷 Brazil
A clear round-of-16 win, then an extra-time reversal
The Qatar 2022 campaign
Brazil won their first two Group G matches without conceding and finished first despite losing to Cameroon. Four first-half goals against South Korea carried them into the quarter-finals. Against Croatia, an extra-time lead did not last; a draw and shoot-out defeat ended their campaign. The contrast between those two knockout games is the clearest way to revisit the run.
Reading the record
Brazil recorded 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat across 5 matches, scoring 8 goals and conceding 3. FIFA’s match summaries record 41 attempts on target from 90 total attempts during their campaign.
Shoot-outs decide which team advances, but their kicks are excluded from the goal totals above. Matches decided on penalties count as draws in this win–draw–loss record; extra-time goals count towards the match score.
Matches to revisit
South Korea shows the attacking high point; Croatia shows the consequence of failing to preserve a late advantage.
Final Group G standings
Brazil finished first with 6 points. The top two teams advanced to the round of 16.
